What exactly is Six Sigma?
"Sigma" is a statistical term that measures how far a process deviates from perfection. The central idea behind Six Sigma is that by measuring how many "defects" we have in a process, we can systematically figure out how to eliminate them and get as close as possible to "zero defects."
To achieve Six Sigma quality, a process must produce no more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. These opportunities are defined as a chance for non-conformance, or not meeting required specifications. We work hard each day to improve quality levels in both products and services as we move closer to our ultimate goal of Six Sigma perfection.
Setting the bar ever higher

Across GE Lighting Solutions, our associates embrace Six Sigma's customer-focused, data-driven philosophy and apply it to everything we do.
